The American Cancer Society is committed to reducing the number of
people who get colon cancer, and the number who die from it. Screening
for colorectal cancer can help us reach both goals. ACS staff at the
regional and local level are reaching out to primary care doctors,
health plans, and community organizations to raise awareness of the
importance of colon cancer screening.
Adults 50 years and older who are at average risk for
colorectal cancer are encouraged to get screened. ACS colon cancer
screening guidelines explain which tests are recommended.
