Share the Power of Purple in Your School

Can you imagine your school principal wearing all purple for a day? You can make it happen! Use these ideas to turn your school purple:

Ideas for Students: 

  • Distribute and post Power of Purple promotional items throughout your community. (attach promo materials)
  • Wear purple clothing/pajamas to school or after-school activities
  • Place a purple product in your lunch box (ex. grapes).
  • Provide all purple snacks at a meeting for your favorite club or group
  • Create purple window decorations and display them in your school windows.
  • Write your school notes in purple ink.
  • Set up a blog on relayforlife.org and invite others to join you
  • Display Relay For Life posters in your school.
  • Decorate your school hallways with purple balloons and decorations.
  • Create cool purple chalk artwork in your school yard
  • Hold a contest for the Funkiest Purple Dresser.
  • Create a mock Relay For Life campsite on school grounds.
  • Get your teachers and school principal to dress in all purple for the day!

Ideas for School Administration:

  • Distribute and post Power of Purple promotional items throughout your school.
  • Make Relay For Life and Power of Purple activities part of your school’s community service program.
  • Place information about Relay For Life and the Power of Purple on your school’s Web
    site.
  • Include information about Relay For Life and the Power of Purple in your school bulletin.

  • Work the Power of Purple into your Spirit Week activities
  • Promote Building Relay Communities – Sharing the Power of Purple and your school’s involvement in Relay For Life on your school marquis

Fundraising Ideas for Students:

Encourage local stores and businesses to sell and display Relay For Life “Sun and Moon” cards.

  • Designate a Power of Purple fundraising day.
  • Sell purple carnations to raise funds.
  • Sell purple ribbons during school lunch and activity times and at athletic events
  • Sell Relay For Life “Sun and Moon” cards to be displayed in the hallways, school cafeteria or library
  • Add a signature to your email messages asking your friends to support your team
