About the Team
Thousands of athletes have experienced the journey of a lifetime by dedicating their participation in endurance events to the fight against cancer through the American Cancer Society Charity Runner program. You too can transform your passion for participating in marathons, half-marathons, triathlons, and other endurance events into a lifesaving effort to raise funds and honor and remember people you know who have been touched by cancer. Over the years, more than 4,000 athletes have helped raise $5.2 million through Charity Runner, making significant progress in the fight against cancer, and every mile more meaningful.
Making a Difference
By turning your passion for endurance events into a meaningful way to support the fight against cancer, you will be providing hope for people facing cancer and for a future without the disease. The funds you raise help the American Cancer Society support groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information, advocate for all people to have access to screenings and treatment, and offer free programs and services to improve the quality of life for people facing the disease.

American Cancer Society’s Commitment to Charity Runner Participant
The American Cancer Society recognizes that you are making an important commitment to the fight against cancer by raising funds in support of our mission. Our commitment to you is the assurance that every dollar you raise will continue to provide groundbreaking research, educational outreach, services that ease the burden and improve the quality of life for cancer patients, and access to cancer care for all who need it. Toward that mission, we will do everything we can to minimize the costs for Charity Runner and our other fundraising programs. And whether or not you have fundraising experience, we have some helpful resources, tips, and suggestions that will help ensure your success.
Charity Runner Participant Fundraising Commitment to the American Cancer Society
In an effort to balance our costs against our mission needs, each partner race requires participants to meet minimum fundraising standards. These minimum standards vary by race and participation, and in some cases they are mandated by the event organizers. Failure to meet those requirements will increase the American Cancer Society's fundraising costs, and may jeopardize the event's selection of the Society as a participating charity. Bound by our mission and by our agreement with each event, the American Cancer Society therefore must enforce these minimum standards. Consequently, if a participant does not meet the minimum fundraising standard, that participant is responsible for paying any remaining balance. Charity Runners are required to supply credit card information upon registration to ensure these fundraising minimums are met. Learn more about our events and fundraising requirements.
