Global Smokefree Partnership Issues Working for a Smokefree Future Report

The Global Smokefree Partnership (GSP) has released its new report Working for a Smokefree Future (click on link below to download report). The report shows that smoke-free laws can protect workers' health in countries as diverse as Bermuda, Uruguay, and New Zealand. Despite this progress, more than nine in 10 workers around the world continue to have no legal protection from secondhand smoke.

The GSP is a new multipartner initiative formed to promote effective smoke-free air policies worldwide. The GSP is coordinated by the American Cancer Society and the Framework Convention Alliance.

The mission of the American Cancer Society is to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. Because cancer is a global health problem, this mission extends around the world. Cancer is potentially the most preventable and the most curable of the major chronic life-threatening diseases. Unfortunately, it is still increasing as a leading killer across the globe, especially in the developing world.

The American Cancer Society’s international program focuses on capacity building in developing cancer societies and on collaborating with other cancer-related organizations across the globe in carrying out our shared mission.
